Appropriations bills will probably be introduced on this week since the deadline for floor action on revenue and appropriations bills is coming up on Wednesday, February 27.

After that the next big deadline is Tuesday, March 5 for committees to report general bills that have come over from the other chamber. As of this morning these type bills have not been referred to committee by either the House or Senate.

SB 2901, the Landowner Protection Act passed out of the Senate last week.  As a result, the House of Representatives leadership decided to let the House version of the bill die on the calendar and plans to take up the Senate bill.  The bill will likely be referred to House Judiciary A.  Coalition members will now start working the committee again to line up our votes in committee and on the floor. Rep. Cory Wilson’s last day in the House was Thursday so the vote in the Judiciary A committee will be tight. Please stay tune for further develops as MCA may likely be sending out a “Call to Action” to contact your local elected officials regarding SB 2901.
